Writing is something that everyone can improve or refine. Writing is a way to express our thoughts, feelings, and ideas into writing. Here are three simple things that will improve your writing.

1. Read, read, and then read some more. Find books, articles and blogs by good writers and read them. You want to surround yourself with quality writers so when you write you will have a plethora of knowledge, ideas, and styles to draw from. Reading will improve writing. You will find that just about any good writer, reads a lot. As my college professor put it, “monkey see, monkey do”.

2. Collect Your Ideas. Bring a pencil and paper, recording device, a rock and slat, or some other type of recording method wherever you go. You never know when inspiration will hit. You may be waiting in line at the post office, about to go to bed, sitting on the toilet, or driving in your car. You want to have something to collect your ideas to refer back to when you have time to write.

3. Write, write, and then write some more. The process of writing will actually improve your writing, so just do it. Find a variety of ways to express yourself in writing such as a personal journal, writing letters, emails, and blogging. Writing is like a muscle the more you work at it the better you will get.
